The Circulatory/Cardiovascular System
The Circulatory/Cardiovascular System consists of the heat which is a muscular pumping device and closes systems of vessels made up of arteries, veins, and capillaries. The primary function of this body system is to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide, nutrients and hormones to the body cells. More than 1,000 times a day, blood circulates in one direction throught he body's 60,000 mile network of veins and arteries. The heart is responsible for pumping oxygen into the blood and collecting carbon dioxide that is expelled through the lungs. Approximately 24,000 gallons of blood pass through the heart daily. Red blood cells carry oxygen, minerals, nutrients, hormones, and antibodies to every cell through their 120 day lifespan, and along with white blood cells, fight disease. When stress and tension build up in the body, circulation becomes sluggish, the cardiovascular system tightens up and blood flow is restricted. It is important to manage stress levels to avoid this.
