Your Chakras
What is a Chakra? A Chakra is the area of interconnection between the body and the spirit. Chakra is the Sanskrit word meaning "wheels of light" which are energy centers in the body, which has purpose and associations with various aspects of body, mind and spirit. Psychiatrist Carl Jung referred to the chakras as the "gateways of consciousness." Every chakra has a spiritual lesson that we much learn in order to adopt a higher consciousness. In Eastern religions it is believe that everybody has seven primary chakras that make up the human energy system Every reflex area in your feed corresponds to a specific chakra. For example if a person has a difficult time in relationships, the Heart chakra reflex point on the food would need to be worked on. Chakras are like wheels of pure radiant energy spinning at great speeds. The rate of the spin and the direction of the spin is indicative of how well we are, or how open we are. What does the Chakra do? What purpose is it to us? Humans are made up of energy. Chakras are the vibrations of energy. Chakras work as your body's antenna, it receives a wide variety of energetic information that may or may not be used or acknowledged by you. Your body is the electric point through which waves or electric vibrations are able to pass. Every part vibrates with a different frequency of energy. They receive information through vibrations and responds to the information to which they are tuned, something like a radio (if the signal isn't clear and on the right frequency, it gets static! - so an out of tune chakra can cause problems). Chakras act like a transformer by intercepting energy of similar vibration and links various aspects of the physical body to its non-physical counterparts. negative energy that enters the chakras can manifest in the body as disease and psychological or spiritual problems. Balancing the chakras is a way to prevent negative energy from damaging the body. We need to mover the energy of our chakras if not we die. Energy movement can be facilitated by yoga, meditation, and the stimulation of the chakra areas through massage, Reiki, and reflexology. AURA

The Seven Chakras of the Body The human body contains hundreds of locations where there is focused and concentrated energy. There are seven major energy centers, commonly referred to as "chakras." Chakra is a Sanskrit word which means "wheel." The chakras are similar to centers of force, located within our etheric body, through which we receive, transmit and process life energies. Each chakra in the body is recognized as a focal point of life-force relating to physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual energies. The Chakras are the network through which body, mind and spirit interact as one holistic system. The seven major chakras correspond to specific aspects of our consciousness and have their own individual characteristics and functions. each has a corresponding relationship to one of the various glands of the body's endocrine system, as well as to one of the seven colors of the rainbow spectrum. The main purpose in working with and understanding the chakras is to create integration and wholeness within ourselves. In this way we ring the various aspects of our consciousness, from the physical to the spiritual, into a harmonious relationship. Ultimately, we begin to recognize that the different aspects of ourselves (physical, material, sexual, spiritual , etc.) all work together, and that each aspect is as much as part of the whole as the others. We must be able to acknowledge, accept and integrate all levels of our being. To help us in the process of our "unfoldment" it is most important to understand that the chakras are "doorways" for our consciousness. They are doorways through which emotional, mental, and spiritual force flow into physical expression. They are openings through which our attitudes and belief systems enter into and create our body/mind structure. The energy created from our emotions and mental attitudes runs through the chakras and is distributed to our cells, tissues, and organs. Realizing this brings tremendous insight into how we affect our bodies, minds, and circumstances for better of worse. To understand the chakras, and their relationship to our consciousness, it to better understand ourselves. Understanding ourselves will enable us to make our choices and decisions from a place of awareness and balance, rather than being blindly influenced by forces we don't understand. The seven chakras are located between the base of the spine and the top of the head. All body parts are represented along the chakra pathway. Begins with the root chakra at the base of the spine (lower vibrations) to the Crown chakra (highest frequency/vibrations). The higher the Chakra, the higher the vibration. Each chakra is attached to one of the seven endocrine glands of the body is represented by color (light energy that represents specific wavelengths of light) but cannot be seen by the human eye - although people with very high spiritual perception can see people's aura's. Color has effects on human emotion. When you are tense or irritable from daily stress, going to a room painted in lavender or pale blue will relax you- if you need energy, wear vibrant orange or red. Green is for relationships. [Note: There are powerful energy centers in the palm of each hand and on the sole of each foot. Red is the lowest frequency in the Root chakra at the base of the spine and white/gold is the highest frequency in the Crown chakra.] First Chakra: Root (or Base) Chakra
Referred to as "Muladhara chakra" in Tantric literature - the first of the energy centers and is related to grounding, rooting and support. Associated with inter-connection with the Earth, reincarnation, past lives, and repeated physical embodiment. The Root chakra is related to our levels of physical energy, and the will to live in the physical reality. One of the roles of the Root chakra is to transform and refine energy before it enters the higher chakra centers. Kundalini energy, (sexual-spirited energy) is stored in this Chakra and can be activated through Yoga to rise through each of the charkas and up through the top of the head to the Crown chakra. As this happens spiritual growth and awareness of other levels of energy and perceptions occur. When the Root chakra is open and functioning well, one has a powerful will to live, is full of physical energy, vitality and potency. When it is weak, blocked or closed, most of one's physical vitality is blocked, and the person does not present a strong physical impression. A person who suffers form weak or blocked root chakra will lack physical power and coordination, will avoid physical activity and cannot express themselves physically and will have a sick or weak constitution - may feel that he/she is invisible. Makes you feel that you are not grounded, don't have a firm foundation. An overactive root chakra the person may depend on immediate external stimuli. They are constantly looking for something to do, somewhere to go. They are not content to just be at home and stay in one place. May become fixated on security-related issues and unable to focus on anything else. If the Rood chakra is active but mal-functioning, the person may have tendency toward physical violence- with no sense of law and order - on no understanding of belonging to a community or society in general. Has family support and are often loners. Second Chakra: Naval (or Lower Abdomen) Chakra, also known as Sacral Plexus)
The Lower Abdomen chakra is the center for sexual energy, creativity, and pure emotion. This chakra processes prana (oxygen) from the atmosphere and transforms it into an energy that is used for sexuality, creativity, spiritual awareness, and integration - it is associated with water and has a foundation based on raw energy and power. When the Lower Abdomen chakra is open, a person has a lot of sexual energy and sexual power, as well as a lot of energy and healing energy. People who have an open second chakra are often very creative and involved in the arts. They are often free spirits, who are comfortable with their sexuality and their place in relationships. However, when this chakra is blocked, sexual sensations will be weak and disappointing and the person my have low self-esteem. People who have problems with guilt and sin, especially in the religious senses (i.e. sex is sinful and dirty!)- the chakra is out of balance. They may also have issues with money, feel unworthy of spending money on themselves. If this chakra is overactive, the result may be excessive or uncontrolled sexual energy - even nymphomania. People with overactive second chakra may also be control freaks who are extremely focused on money and the acquisition of material things. Third Chakra: Solar Plexus Chakra
The Solar Plexus chakra is located in the center of the body. It is a very important chakra because it relates to our personal will power, metabolic energy, intention, and integrity. This chakra represents the male, creative, yang energy in the body. It brings to us our desires and impulses, and controls our emotions and physical power. This chakra is where feeling and being are assimilated. Associated with the element of fire, it is the foundation of our individual essence or personality. The Solar Plexus provides our "gut feelings" reactions to "psychic impressions." It can bring us joy, sadness, inspired reactions and heightened emotions. This chakra stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, which prepared the body for activity by producing adrenaline. When it is open and balanced, you have a sense of wellness, gentleness, and inner peace, and great emotional strength. You are independent, self-reliant, responsible and courageous. A balanced solar plexus strengthens you by supporting and reinforcing personal power and motivation. When it is out of balance or holding on to negative energy, this chakra can cause unhealthy thoughts and actions. It may lead to anxiety and panic attacks If it is blocked you may feel weak m insecure, and easily swayed by others. You are easily intimidated and cared to make any decisions by yourself. If this chakra is overactive, it may cause you to be excessively forceful pushing your will onto others. People with an overactive solar plexus chakras can be aggressive bossy dominating, self-centered and narcissistic. Fourth Chakra: The Heart Chakra
The Heart Chakra is the center of love, compassion, relationships, and associations. It is also related to other virtuous emotions such as joy, happiness, honesty, respect and generosity, and with loving oneself in a sincere, non-egotistical way. This is probably why in so many cultures the heart is said to be the seat of the soul. This chakra also helps us connect with those we love. Associated with the element of air, the heart chakra controls the circulation of blood and vitalizes the life stream. It is believed that "the heart is the mother in all of us." because it teaches lessons of kindness, forgiveness. love, peace, and harmony along with laughter and playfulness. The hearts were lessons of unconditional love and self acceptance guide us to higher levels of being and loving. Throught he Heart chakra we feel a connection and sense of oneness with others in the works and the Divine. When the Heart chakra is open, it becomes the channel of universal love, and it generates the virtues of the heart through the whole body. The Heart chakra is very important in spiritual healing, When it is open it can remover fear and bring compassion in the form of spiritual love, which is a powerful tool in the quest for wholeness. All energies metabolized through the chakras travel up the center of the body and into the heart chakra, before moving out through the hands or heart of the healer, once the heart opens, the Higher Serf is able to work through this enter. People who have opened their Heart chakra are usually happy and peaceful. They can nurture strong relationships with others because they have learned the values of forgiveness and compassion. They generally have less stress in their lives and my even live longer. However when there is insufficient flow of love or emotional nourishment to the Heart chakra, it becomes blocked or even closed. Then, negative emotions such as hatred, guilt, selfishness, paranoia, impatience, and self-pity can emerge. With a closed heart one is unable to feel love for anyone, including oneself, their self-love becomes twisted and narcissistic. These people go through life with scowl on their faxes and tension in every part of their bodies. They ant let go of resentment and anger, so they keep it locked inside. Eventually these negative emotions manifest as disease. Fifth Chakra: Throat Chakra
The Throat chakra is related to communications, self-expression, and creativity. It is the Mother Charka, which begins the three yin or female energy chakras of the body. Associated with the element of sound, the Throat charka rules the faculty of speech. It is also associated with clairaudience (hearing spiritual voices), and with our reception of sounds, words, music, tastes, and smells. The throat chakra is you voice, communicating concrete thoughts that are received from the solar plexus. The voice represents our "intent" and it can inflict pain or kindness. The Throat chakra also works in tandem with the heart chakra in the front of the body to activate happiness, peace, love and joy. This chakra can focus and direct our thought into words, Since all life experiences dome directly form our thoughts, then words, then actions, the voice has great power in transforming intentions and desires, and realizing our dreams, In a sense, this center acts as a pump that sends energy to higher centers. The throat chakra is the center of the ego-self and will-power. It is the center form which we transform thoughts into word and deed in the external physical world. Another function is the absorption of physical and emotional nourishment can manifest as sensuous desire and enjoyment of food. When the Throat charka is open, there is a feeling of freedom and a deep sense of the meaning of life and the universe - an awareness that one's will is in harmony with the Divine will. When this center is open and functioning well, you are able to embrace others with love and warmth. It is easy to express yourself and your speech is clear and smooth. They tend to overreact to everything with great drama, jump into situations with little forethought and become self-proclaimed expert in every conversation. Sixth Chakra: Third Eye (or Brow) Chakra
The Third Eye chakra is related to intuition, perception, and the imagination. Associated with the element of light, it is the energy center where you can perceive higher spiritual planes. The Third Eye helps you to see all circumstances around you, and it is the key to wisdom, knowledge and truth. While dreaming, mediating, or working the chakra energies, there may be colors, pictures, feelings, and inner knowledge that come to you through the Third Eye. When this occurs, this energy center gives you the capacity to visualize and understand mental concepts, this chakra is the ultimate power center of perceiving and healing ourselves and others. If the Third Eye chakra is open and balanced you may be very imaginative, intuitive, and creative, you may have psychic abilities and be able to see, "feel" or know things that other people whose Third Eye is less developed cannot. If this chakra is more developed than other centers, you may have difficulty in relating to the everyday routine and physical matters, and will be to much "in the clouds." Similarly, if this charka is strong but mal-functioning, you may tend to get caught up in illusion and glamour an d use drugs that temporarily provide that fantasy world. On the other hand, if the center is clocked or closed, you may have a very limited unimaginative consciousness, and will tend to live life in a little box with no higher guidance or inspiration. You may reject all spiritual aspect and intuition, and only believe in science, intellect, and surface meanings. People with a blocked Third Eye refuse to open their eyes and mind to anything that is not concrete and proven. They usually are not religious and often do not believe in God, reincarnation, or life after death. Seventh Chakra: Crown Chakra
The Crown chakra is the final chakra, and is the basis of knowledge, information, and understanding. Associated with thought, it's connected to the pineal gland, which regulates the body's internal click and considered to be the link between the body and soul. In keeping with this idea, Eastern mysticism teaches that the Crown chakra connect directly thru our Higher Self and it brings reverence, knowledge or infinity, and insights form the spiritual understanding, This center in which you can connect to planed of consciousness beyond and above the individual self and "concrete" reality. Through it you can literally reach the heavens or other energy realism and you can receive revelations from higher planes of existence. These revelations are the source of genius intelligence, higher intuition and religious experience. Through the Crown chakra, it is believe that you can rise through the center of your head and project healing and pure, unconditional love, energies anywhere in the Universe. This is the basis for "energy-based" therapies such as Reiki and therapeutic touch, as well as the "power of prayer" This chakra also related to immortality, angels, grace, interaction with Divine forces, and self-realization. When the Crown Center is open spirituality is inherent and you are automatically draw to mystical or sacred teachings, you may possess an inner knowledge of a higher, universal level of consciousness and you may have the ability to see auras, receive guidance from higher forces, and feel bliss. Or you may simply have intrinsic understanding of truth and purpose People with an open Crown chakra are often psychics, and are sometimes referred to as "old souls" They can see beyond the concrete to the truth. On the other hand, when this center is blocked, all senses of spirituality and creativity, which ultimately come from above, are also blocked. You may have a very narrow, limited consciousness, and focus on the material world. If the Crown chakra is out of balance, it can cause you to be unable to imagine anything beyond this world. You may refuse to let go of fear and anxiety, and be depressed and unsatisfied. You may question the meaning of life and wonder about the point of it all. Return to Main Page |
